Women invited to Go Red for Women in New Ulm event
NEW ULM, Minn. 02/02/2009--The Heart of New Ulm project is hosting a women-only Go Red for Women event Thursday, Feb 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. Cardiologist Shalini Bobra, MD, of the Minneapolis Heart Institute at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, will talk about women and heart disease, and anchor Diana Pierce of KARE-11 TV News will give tips on staying motivated about good health habits.
"Men and women are very different, but one thing we share is heart disease," says Dr. Bobra "I encourage all moms, sisters, aunts, daughters, grandmothers and girlfriends to attend our special evening program to learn ways to keep your heart healthy.".
Pierce, an accomplished equestrian, tennis player and marathoner, has practical advice on fulfilling healthy intentions. "This is the year that's going to be different. This is the year that we're going to lose weight, get fit and eat right," says Pierce. "But, within weeks, our best intentions are history too. So, how do we continue toward our goal or our new behaviors toward better health? We set SMART Goals: S-specific. M-measurable. A-attainable. R-realistic. T-timely." Together, Pierce and participants will discover how they can incorporate these tips into their daily lives with success..
