Allina's Unity Hospital helps community make sense of medical bills
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. 09/01/2009--Medical bills can be confusing, especially when you aren't feeling well. Unity Hospital is offering a free seminar to help patients, and the community, understand medical bills.
"People who are not even our patients walk in asking for financial counseling because their neighbors told them how helpful we are," said Fran Hakim, manager of patient registration and one of the seminar presenters. "We realized there was an opportunity to do more to help the community on a larger scale."
The seminar will also review resources available to those struggling to pay their medical bills. Everyone is welcome to attend and financial counselors will be available following the seminar to answer questions privately.
The seminar is Tuesday, September 22, at Unity Hospital, 550 Osborne Road in Fridley from 7 to 8:30 p.m. No registration necessary. More information can be found at allinaunity.com.
