State-of-the-art MRI Equipment Now Available in River Falls
RIVER FALLS, Wisc. 04/01/2010--River Falls Area Hospital recently upgraded to a new MRI system that will provide physicians with higher quality detailed pictures of a patient’s body. AN MRI scan is a test which takes pictures of certain parts of the body. This test does not use X-ray, but does have a magnetic field. Pictures taken by the MRI are digital and are used to help evaluate a wide range of conditions, including stroke, musculoskeletal, heart disease and breast cancer.

With the improved computer technology of the new system (GE EXCITE 1.5 T HD MRI system with eight channel coils) patients will experience faster exams which will result in improved image quality and patient comfort. The new system provides improved diagnostic image resolution and quality.
The system also allows technologists to perform exams locally that previously could not be done. Most notably breast MRIs can now be done here in River Falls. Breast MRIs are useful for pre-surgical patients with known cancer, for screening high risk patients in addition to digital mammograms and it is a good diagnostic tool when a mammogram or ultrasound are inconclusive.
“We are excited to offer the latest digital MRI technology here in River Falls. This upgrade represents our continual commitment to provide the latest technology, resources and services to the community,” stated Jeff Agen Lab and Radiology Manager at River Falls Area Hospital. “In addition to technology, River Falls Area Hospital and River Falls Medical Clinic are committed to providing state of the art facilities and procedures along with top notch physicians, staff, and programs to provide exceptional care locally.”
