The orthopedics program at United Hospital is supported by skilled orthopedic surgeons and a dedicated multidisciplinary team of professionals from nursing, pharmacy, social services, respiratory care and nutrition services. Rehabilitation services are available and include physiatry, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology. United Hospitals Orthopedic services continue to lead the way with superior care that puts our patients’ well-being first. Our team is dedicated to providing you with the best care possible every step of the way.

Orthopedic specialists have access to excellent programs and facilities that focus on our patients’ needs. This includes:

  • inpatient and day surgery facilities
  • dedicated 36-bed inpatient care unit
  • advanced diagnostics through United Hospital Medical Imaging and St. Paul Radiology
  • preoperative education for total joint patients
  • dedicated inpatient physical therapy station on the inpatient care unit
  • outpatient rehabilitation available through Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Services
  • comprehensive discharge planning

United Hospital has been designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement. Blue Distinction Centers for Knee and Hip Replacement demonstrate an expertise to quality care, resulting in better overall outcomes for patients, by meeting objective clinical measures developed in collaboration with expert physician panels and national medical organizations. To earn the Blue Distinction, United Hospital had to meet additional criteria around clinical outcomes, participation in the nationally recognized Surgical Care Improvement Project, providing peri-operative patient education, as well as establishing experienced surgical teams and quality programs.
